Introduction
In the "Story of Stuff" video Annie talks
about the materials economy process. The parts of this process are : Extraction, Production, Distribution,
Consumption and Disposal. These things move within a particular system, and all
these stages together form what is known as the economy of material. We are
running out of resources because we are using all resources of the planet. This
is a problem because it will be the end of the planet and the destruction of
life sources such as mountains, trees, water and fish that live in it. And the
one solution that is to recycle more materials and changing this process to be
less harmful to the planet.
Extraction
In the extraction process is to sabotage and
cracking in many natural resources such as logging and destruction of the
mountains and the problem is that we lose these resources and as Annie said
"we have consumed 1 \ 3 of the world's resources in the last 30
years". The
process begins with the extraction of resources such as minerals, oil, metals, wood, animals and water. And there is a problem in this extraction process that we use a lot of things that cause us and the rest of the objects a lot of damage. We are destroying the planet and compromising natural resources each year and causing a lot of damage to the environment, climate and create pollution. From the health perspective industry have caused health problems caused by pollution and the deterioration of water and the spread of toxic substances in industrial sites and because of it
diseases, asthma, heart and breathing difficulty have been spread among people.
Production
In the production we use the energy to add
chemicals toxic to the natural resources to make toxic production. We use of
large amounts of natural resources such as timber trees, natural water and
chemicals that cause health problems and spread of pollution in the environment
and products that contain a lot of toxic substances to be harmful to human
health and the environment. I got problems of industrial production in the
system environment on a large scale, which led to the change in climate and the
large spread of contaminated water and toxic waste. These days the industry
based on synthetic chemicals that are of the same products. As long as we use
toxic materials in our production system we will continue to have toxic
substances every day. These materials
are everywhere such as homes, schools, workplaces and the cause us to
many diseases. People who run the greatest risk of these toxic substances are factory workers, most of them
are pregnant women and their work with the toxic substances, and more cancer
causing substances. The responsibility of protecting these people from the
jurisdiction of governments and companies. We can make the production as
possible to be clean. And can be manufactured without the entry of input
materials and reducing the use of toxic materials can be used as energy and
materials properly.
Distribution
Distribution is the process by which the company sells stuff quickly and cost expensive. Their purpose to maintain the low prices and the flow of materials and people to buy these materials. Distribution of these things are significant impacts on the environment. And energy used to transport materials and products to all over the world, as well as lighting and temperature control in all shopping centers that occur greenhouse gases.
There are a lot of documents confirms the failure of some large commercial retailers to provide health insurance for workers who are suffering from it. Shoppers also suffer as the walk is replaced by the existing companies on the local community.
There are many strategies to
improve social and
environmental impact of the distribution system. Which is Fair Trade
certification, and work agreements to ensure the new business benefit the local community. Of living and economies that build communities and a healthy environment and natural.
consumption
System of consumption is problem and the
solution is in our hands to control things that we buy and not waste the money
and buy things that we doesn't need and which are not of interest, and we need
to moderation in the exchange rate daily and monthly to regain our identity as
citizens working in the field of democracy. Proved statistics in parts of the world that the rate of consumption in a significant increase, and the high rate of people using more resources and energy, and result in more greenhouse gas emissions and waste. And increase the number of consumers threaten the environment and the planet Whole. The solution to this stage is not easy, with so many things will not bring happiness. True happiness is
the time with family, good health, good work and the pursuit of common goals.
Disposal
Of course, all materials consumed in the end it will just waste that must be disposed of somewhere, and usually are burned or are recovered for recycling. And the volume of waste began to grow more and more, and the recycling
process will not be enough to solve the problem. They must be extracted from the system initially for recycling at the same time and use less materials. And the process of burning of materials affect the earth, air, water and aspiration of greenhouse gases causing more exchange of materials. Recycling conserve energy and to use a lot of materials, but be a dirty process and products are toxic and poorly made.
Consumption in UAE
Consumer society in UAE is a society dominated by money in two ways, in terms of where one is gasping behind the gain so that the consumption of more and better well-being. In this community to spread the phenomenon of auto purchase, and are intended to buy items were not in the mind of the buyer before entering the store, and there is the phenomenon of buying fever because Addiction to purchase no less dangerous and psychologically destructive about the danger of drug addiction.
Conclusion
Is usually a consumer who does not achieve the
principles of ex-consuming for the purpose of showing off, not to meet a real
need for a behavior that stems from the competition in the tradition of others
and the desire to discrimination, has led most countries to impose high taxes
on the importation and distribution of goods by the nature of luxury and
ostentation to reduce behaviors consumer adverse economic, social, and
identified most of the countries a minimum level of income that must be
obtained by any agent or employee of the State, which represents the minimum
standard of living in the country concerned, and if unsuccessful in getting a
job provided him with this income; on commitment to the community by providing
